Porsche Panamera – the ultimate sedan

There are many luxurious sedans out there. Whether it´s the Mercedes Benz S-Class, the Bentley Mulsanne or the BMW 7-Series. All of them combine the best materials with state of the art technology, providing the most comfortable ride that you can imagine. While it´s definitely enjoyable to drive them, usually you have to pay a price for all that comfort. Not talking about the retail price tag, which is obviously high. Most modern luxury sedans just don´t offer the amount of agility and fun that you´ll get from driving a sportscar. Of course this is totally fine because they were not built for that purpose, but there is a brand that managed to combine luxury, comfort & sportscar dynamics.

Porsche is well known for it´s excellent sportscars, which can call themselves one of the best of the world. The iconic 911 series has a huge fanbase and develops even further with every version. Lately Porsche also set a new all time record for the Nürburging Nordschleife with their new 919 Hybrid Evo. A lap time of 5:19:55 truly is absolutely amazing and will most likely not get beaten for a long time. But what do these cars have to do with luxurious sedans? In 2009 Porsche introduced their first 4-door saloon. The Panamera came with a front engine and rear wheel drive setup, with the option to all wheel drive. Porsche offered a 4.8 litre twin-turbo V8 with 493 HP / 542 HP for the Panamera Turbo / Turbo S  versions, as well as a 3.6 litre natural aspirated V6 with 300 HP. Both of them performed really good, allowing the Panamera to reach more than 250 km/h. In combination with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission you got a really dynamic drive. Furthermore, the Panamera had everything it takes to be a true luxury sedan. Finest materials & finishings in the interior, lots of space and the ability to drive very comfortable, if you like so.

The second generation (which is produced since 2017) brings all of these features to the next level. Porsche also made a big step into hybrid cars. The Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid combines a 4 litre V8 engine with an electric motor, delivering a combined power of 680 HP. This makes it the second most powerful Porsche, right after their supercar 918 Spyder. Although this car is as fast as a supercar it still provides all the comfort you´d want. It´s an excellent choice to go on a vacation. Even if the sticker price is astronomical high, starting at 200.000€, you can still rent a Panamera E-Hybrid. There is nothing to fear for the Panamera, a topspeed of 310km/h lets it compete with every other supercar out there. If you´re in Germany, you can go this fast on the German Autobahn. Most parts of it are still unrestricted roads, so you can enjoy all the fun a Porsche Panamera provides without caring about speed limitations.

So why is the Panamera the ultimate sedan? Because it combines two cars in one. It´s a true sportscar that can compete with all the Lamborghinis, Ferraris and Mclarens out there. At the same time it´s one of the most comfortable and luxurious sedans out there. You can get nearly every electronic assists making it also super safe to drive. If you´re thinking that the car is way overpriced, remember that you get a luxury 2500kg car that accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds.
